How to use an experience card and an experience package?

Each card helps you solve one daily eating challenge. Because real life is so unpredictable, think of cards as a source of inspiration. Make them fit your needs and wishes. Nothing is set in stone. Experiment, play and tell us what worked for you.

 

Experience packages include several cards that, when combined, may help you solve your daily challenges for a common life scenario, such as a stressful week or going on vacation. They work well together, but each card also works well on its own. You should give each package a two-week trial period. This provides you with enough time and a good pace to hold yourself accountable. You can try as many cards as you want in these two weeks, depending on how much time or energy you have available. Of course, if you do more, you can expect more, but some weeks allow for little progress, which is also fine.

You may be feeling guilty because your day did not go as planned. That’s fine, many responsibilities take precedence over eating. You might even think to yourself, now that the entire day has been ruined, let’s eat everything in sight. But don’t start sabotaging yourself just yet.

At the end of the day, there is always a way to make amends and regain control of your meal. You can help compensate for the day by eating a palmful of protein, a palmful of vegetables at dinner and limiting side dishes, fatty toppings, and sauces.

You could, for example, eat bread and cold cuts with warm vegetables. You can prepare some vegetables in 5 minutes in the microwave or 30 minutes in the conventional oven, and they will add a unique flavor to an otherwise cold meal. Toasted rye bread with chicken cuts and zucchini baked in the oven for 25 minutes at 150°F is one of our favorite combinations. Eat the zucchini with a fork; the soft warmth of the slices will help you relax and forget about your day. However, it is up to you to be inventive.

 

 

 

Pitfalls

But this is not always easy. Here are some difficulties you might face and what you should do about them:

If you haven’t had enough to drink during the day, you won’t have a sense of what you want and how much. Drink 10 oz. (3dl) of water and wait 40 minutes for it to be absorbed to get rid of the uncertainty. This should be your first step.

If you can’t wait any longer to eat, your brain may confuse thirst with hunger. Start your meal with a piece of fruit, and you’ll be relaxed in 20-30 minutes. Don’t be concerned about the extra sugar, it will help your body rebalance. Choose a juicy fruit (apple or orange) and avoid bananas.

If you haven’t eaten anything for 6-8 hours, be sure to have both a small fistful of protein and a small fistful of side dishes (or 1-2 pieces of bread) and some vegetables at dinner. You’ll sleep better and you won’t be hungry the next morning.

Every two weeks, you can choose one experience package (and further cards), that have been personally recommended to you. For example, if you previously selected “Busier than usual,” you could now select “Stressful weeks” or “Give me a break” to continue. This is how you can make progress even when life throws unexpected turns at you. A membership also allows you to join the community and browse cards created by others for life experiences that may be similar to yours.

You can make an experience card to remember a special occasion or to share your own tried-and-true tips and tricks with family, friends, and coworkers.
